The essential technique in any laboratory. It might seem that having devices such as mass spectrometers, ICP or XRF means that there is no room for “ancient” titration in the laboratory. Nothing could be more wrong! We use titration very often, although we use advanced titrators equipped with phototrodes and many types of electrodes.
We most often test the water content using the popular Karl-Fischer (KF) titration, both with a volumeter and a coulometer. But potentiometric titration, iodometry, argentometry are not alien to us, as well as indirect or reverse titration.
