CHNS-O analyzer (also known as elemental analyzer) is a device that is used to measure the concentrations of the elements carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen.
The analyzer is a perfect complement to the XRF spectrometer, which does not measure the above-mentioned elements.
The principle of operation of the device is based on the combustion of the sample in an oxygen atmosphere, then reduction of nitrogen oxides to molecular nitrogen and determination of CO2, H2O, N2, CO2, H2O, N2 after separation on a chromatographic column with the use of a TCD detector. The device allows the detection of elements in a concentration above 0.3%.
Application
In our laboratory, we use the CHNS-O analyzer most often to test all types of fuels, biofuels or organic samples.
