It is a universal detector used in liquid chromatography, using the aerosol generation technology, introduced to the market relatively recently (in 2004) by the ESA company. It is used to analyze non-volatile and semi-volatile compounds.
The detector is very similar in application to the ELSD. Often described in the literature as being more sensitive. Our experience shows that as a result of a series of tests performed in the laboratory, we do not see any significant difference in sensitivity.
However, it has several major disadvantages to the ELSD:
